코로나19 이후 GMS(Grater Mekong Subregion) 관광산업 전략과 한-GMS 관광 협력방안

[Abstract]

This study aims to suggest tourism cooperation between Korea and GMS in the recovery stages of tourism industry after COVID-19 by analyzing GMS tourism cooperation strategy before COVID-19 and GMS Tourism recovery plan after COVID-19. Tourism industry in GMS has contributed to GMS economic by having a great impact on tourism revenue, tourism GDP and employment rate. However the outbreak of COVID-19 leads to tourism decline in terms of decreased international tourists and employment rate in GMS. Therefore, GMS cooperation with Korea, which has many outbound visitors, is essential to recover tourism industry. Korea presents culture & tourism as a priority cooperation sector with GMS, while the United States, China and Japan that do not have tourism in the cooperation sector, which gives it a comparative advantage in cooperation with GMS compared to the major countries. There are three possible recommendations of tourism cooperation between GMS and Korea: reinforcing tourism cooperation network between GMS and Korea, implementing co-promotion(the year of mutual visit) and promoting joint agendas in tourism sector.
